some observations

“Spring” semester has begun.

1. why is it called spring semester? we’ve gotten a good 6 inches of snow in the past couple of days. we probably should shovel our driveway…
2. my religion prof gave us a binder with notes and articles to read. it smells like band-aids. i don’t like that.
3. one of my classes, my four credit internship class, will meet one more time this semester. i like that.

new look

It’s been ages since I designed the previous look of this site, and I decided it was time for a new look and a new blogging tool. I’m now using ExpressionEngine, which is the blogging software that Calvin uses. Since I am the “weblog coordinator” at Calvin, I’m really familiar with it and can make it do almost anything I want. =) So, what do you think of the new look?

(p.s. I probably broke the RSS feed if anyone is subscribed to it… oops!)

(p.p.s. I also broke the comments section… should be working now!)

I’m blue

At work a few months ago, I had to take a “discovery profile” personality/work style test. My boss gave me a packet today with my results. It assigns you a color… blue is my dominant color (reforming observer) but red is close behind, so I think that means I’m really purple. Well, this profile goes into detailed descriptions of me. Some of it is kind of humorous… and perhaps true. For example:

“Emily uses her thinking to run as much of the world as she can”

or this

“Emily is the conceptual problem solver, intensely intellectual and logical, exhibiting flashes of creative brilliance.”

Watch out for lightning folks… I have flashes of brilliance. =)

And now for the not-so-accurate, but still amusing bit:

“Emily prefers quiet (mostly true) and may develop ingenious ways to make herself invisible (hah!), particularly when she is called upon to take part in social or gregarious interaction (right…)”

life in texas

well, I just got back from a lovely week in Tejas with the family. Most of us enjoyed it, until Chloe announced last night that she had had enough of us all…

enjoy some photos here. unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures of our wild parakeet hunt. Probably because we didn’t find them.

Some of my favorites:

Lights Dad talks to the duck
Vine on tree Me and a large rocket
