Lejía means bleach

Today I learned a new word: lejía. It means bleach. And if you ever see a large bottle of leja fall onto the ground while you’re sitting very near it, hurry, run, scramble, or dive away from it as fast as humanly possible. Should you fail to do so, your pair of khakis that you got just last month will almost immediately become covered with pinkish spots, thereby rendering them unwearable for anything besides painting. Which you don’t plan on doing anytime soon.

In other news, I climbed Montg on Saturday. And I took a lot of pictures, as you may have guessed by now.

Some observations

– The Mediterranean is beautiful
– I really like tortilla espanola… and now I know how to make it, and will probably make it at least once a week back home!
– I’m scared of bidets
– I really like my new camera
– People here don’t say “excuse me” or “pardon” when they bump into you or need to get past you… they just run into you.
– I get sunburned really easily. Like yesterday, when I was outside from 4 until the sunset at 6. And my mama here told me I’m going to get tan. Yeah, right.

Yesterday we walked to Les Rotes, and took lots of pictures.

Here’s my address, because I’m jealous of the people who have already gotten mail!

It was cloudy again today… but I went for a run along the Mediterranean; I’m looking forward to doing that often. Provided I’m motivated to do so…

I’m in Spain!

This is my bedroom:

My room

My mama here, Pepita, owns a fish store. I like fish, so that’s a good thing. But she’s hardly ever at home because she’s always at the fish store, so I have the apartment to myself often, which is nice. I still feel like I’m on vacation, though, so I’ve been out wandering the town pretty much every day since I’ve been here. I’m finally starting to know my way around at least a little bit (no more getting lost on the way to school).

Today, Pepita’s friend came over with her adorable three year old, Salvador. I was playing with him for a while, and I gave him my iPod to listen to. He thought it was the coolest thing ever.

A few days ago was Tres Reyes, which is probably bigger than Christmas, at least in terms of gifts. The parade was pretty sweet, with the kings, camels, donkeys, a yak (maybe?), and dancers, etc.

Lots of new pictures in my photo gallery.

Happy New Year’s Eve Eve!

I think that was the best new year’s eve eve party I’ve ever been to!

In other news, I leave for Spain in less than 3 days, although really I’m leaving in 2 days because I’m going to GR on Sunday. Perhaps at this point I should seriously start packing. Hmm.
