{"id":444,"date":"2013-09-30T07:45:54","date_gmt":"2013-09-30T14:45:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.emilywinck.com\/blog\/?p=444"},"modified":"2013-09-29T22:15:52","modified_gmt":"2013-09-30T05:15:52","slug":"hiking-in-palo-alto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.emilywinck.com\/blog\/hiking-in-palo-alto\/","title":{"rendered":"Hiking in Palo Alto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, Ryder and I have done some hiking a bit closer to home: the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofpaloalto.org\/gov\/depts\/csd\/parks\/preserves\/arastradero\/default.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Pearson-Arastradero Preserve<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofpaloalto.org\/gov\/depts\/csd\/parks\/preserves\/foothills.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Foothills Park<\/a>, both of which are run by the city of Palo Alto and are within a few miles of our home.<\/p>\n<p>Arastradero is mostly rolling grassland hills, with some views across the Bay.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Looking across the Bay (in the far, far distance)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.emilywinck.com\/photos\/var\/resizes\/palo-alto-hiking\/IMG_5485.JPG?m=1380516962\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Looking across the Bay (in the far, far distance)<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"Tree\" src=\"http:\/\/www.emilywinck.com\/photos\/var\/resizes\/palo-alto-hiking\/IMG_5482.JPG?m=1380516954\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">A lone tree amidst the grass<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Foothills Park (at least the part we hiked) was more varied &#8211; steeper hills, a stream bed that looks like it will be quite active when it starts to rain again, and a nice assortment of flora.
