Wherein I attempt to maintain two blogs

Ryder laughs at me every time I say this, but I have been feeling rather conflicted about this blog for a while. I like posting photos I’ve taken, which often are of my family or trips or just random things. But I also like posting crafts I’ve done, and want to have posts that are interesting to other blog-reading-crafters. So for a while this blog has served dual purposes, but I’ve felt weird about putting family photos up one day, then a post about how I made a clock, then photos from a wedding I attended. So, I’ve started writing about crafty things over at La Casa de Crafts. I’ve filled that blog with my posts from the now-mostly-defunct Winck N’ Crane blog so there are some things to browse through there.

Now we’ll see if I can manage to keep posting on two blogs…

Wee! I finally have a domain that matches my name. I’ve moved my photos & blog over here to emilywinck.com, hopefully without breaking too many things. Let me know if you see anything not working, and I’ll try to fix it. This move took me many months of working on it a bit at a time, which is part of the reason I haven’t posted anything in ages. That and I usually don’t post very often, but I’m going to try to remedy that now that I have a spiffy new web site!

I live in Atlanta now.

I’m sorry, I’m sorry – practically everyone I know (well, okay, three people) have been begging (well, not really) for pictures of my new apartment. So, here they are. As you may notice, I’m kind of lacking in the furniture department at the moment… I’m thinking about creating furniture out of my myriad cardboard boxes.

It’s been ages since I designed the previous look of this site, and I decided it was time for a new look and a new blogging tool. I’m now using ExpressionEngine, which is the blogging software that Calvin uses. Since I am the “weblog coordinator” at Calvin, I’m really familiar with it and can make it do almost anything I want. =) So, what do you think of the new look?

(p.s. I probably broke the RSS feed if anyone is subscribed to it… oops!)

many things are currently occurring in my life:

I just accepted an internship in CIT’s Teaching & Learning team. I’m not really sure exactly what I’ll be doing, but basically I’ll be taking over some of my old boss’ responsibilities (!)

I just cleaned my floor. It’s amazingly clean.

My wrist hurts sometimes. I think I’m getting “repetitive stress injury” (not carpal tunnel)

I finished a very good book last night… La Sombra del Viento. I read it in Spanish but there’s an English translation, too (but I don’t know how good it is)

school starts 21 days from today. I’m looking forward to it (friends will be back, I like learning) but also kind of dreading it (I like summer, and this is my last year of college – which means after it’s done, the rest of my life starts)

we’re selling our house in Midland and buying one in Houston. but I will never be a Texan, even if I get cowboy boots.

i’ve been trying (on and off) for the past 5 minutes to get it off, but it’s not coming. harrumph.

other things that aren’t coming anytime soon: the refrigerator for our house. it won’t come until at least Saturday. that will be over a week of living out of a mini fridge… which really means i haven’t had a meal in this house yet, and i’ve technically lived here for 4 days. At least we don’t have to pay rent for the first week…

Once the house is done being messy, you all will have to come visit, because it’s going to be a very lovely house. Really.

so, my trusty desktop computer gave me a little scare a few days ago… it decided it didn’t want to get past the Dell start-up screen. Hmm. Fortunately, it’s better now. Reinstalling Windows works wonders. The only bummer is that now I have to install the 47 windows updates that have been released in the past two years…

In other exciting news, I got Spain pictures developed. Almost 350 of them. That should keep me busy scrapbooking for a while…

Well, I’m home. Europe was great. It went by really, really fast. Note to self: you can’t see Europe in 2 weeks. But we had fun trying!

well, this is it. I leave Denia in just over 6 hours. the reality of leaving hasn’t really set in yet, but I know it’s going to hit me at some random time over the next couple of weeks, and I don’t know how I’m going to handle it. Such an experience. I can’t even describe it.

The next two weeks will find me with 3 amazing friends exploring Europe… wish us luck.

So clich�, but really, I can’t belive it’s almost done. Spain, 4.5 months of my life, a new life, a new culture… only a week left. Wow. I’d rather not dwell on that at the moment. There’s a long enough plane ride home to figure out exactly how I feel.

For now, the fun stuff:

Yeah, that’s us in Madrid this past weekend. It was rainy (but we entertained ourselves).

Now, back to the books – 1 exam down, 4 more to go.
